Matthew & Sarah
Matthew earned a B.S. degree from Liberty University in Special Education and is also a certified NILD Educational Therapist.
Sarah holds a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies from Liberty University and graduates with an M.A. in Education in 2020.
Both Matthew & Sarah have been involved in teaching, missions, and working with youth since 2002. They have served as missionaries in Africa, Spain, & Guatemala over the past decade.
The couple established Encounter: Education in Missions that people of all ages, nationalities, and backgrounds may know the Father and experience the joy of walking with His Son Jesus Christ.
Founded by Matthew and Sarah Smith and supported by a team of advisors, Encounter: Education in Missions was brought into existence to meet unique needs found on the international mission field.
The primary vehicle of all the ministry activities is education and the overseas mission field is the location, but the purpose of Encounter: Education in Missions above all is to show people how they can have their own encounter with Jesus Christ.
Statement of Faith
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
